Día de las velitas!!

This is a traditional date we celebrate in Colombia, starting the night of Dec.7

People decorate their homes with lots of lights, everybody goes out and share a meal with their neighbors....

Kids turn on candles and "farolitos" and keep them safe from the wind.

Is a really fun celebration and it sets the start of the christmass season.

My friend Carolina made a cool post to teach you how to make a "Farolito" here:

Ideas on working with math and body science at the same time

First, show this video to your students:

Now talk about all the systems that are involved in the body functions. Check out these activities, depending on your student's ages:

Then, you can calculate how many times you breathe or blink in an hour, a day, etc. Is a really fun way to introduce math problems. They will never notice they are practicing math :)

Old Hispanic town beauty

Last weekend I went to Villa de Leyva, a lovely little town lost in time, in Boyacá, Colombia. It is full of old memories and the people who lives there loves to preserve its history.

It has these beautiful Bougainvillea gardens everywhere. I'm sorry, I had to take a selfie.

There are 4 different nunneries inside the town. You can visit them and take home some relics made by the nouns.

I love photography, so this was an amazing opportunity to take some good pics.

If you are interested in purchase these images they are available for commercial or personal use at my TpT store.

6 Spanish songs great for dancing and moving

I love to dance with my students. In the morning they need to wake up their bodies and brains, so, we dance in the mornings. During the day, anytime they need a rest or an activation activity, we dance too. You can see us dancing in this little video I made. Also, it is a stress relieve for me.

These are the spanish songs we dance, some of them are great to teach new spanish words too. (Learning and having fun, a win win situation, LOL) I don't show the videos, just learn the steps and show them to the kids.

Bugie, bugie song

Let me know if you have some other song we can use at our classroom.
