Friend feature: Rocking with math

If I say "Vicky Rauch" you may don´t know who she is. But what if I say Scipi?? I bet you instantly think on math, statistics and having fun with those kind of things. Scipi has been teaching since "the earth cooled". Her husband is a teacher as well, and together they have over 70 years of teaching in the elementary, middle school, high school and college areas.

"My focus is mathematics while my husband's is science. We never want to do anything else because we love it! My teaching style is hands-on and energetic while using diverse teaching strategies. I try to teach ordinary things in extraordinary ways." She say.

I know and admire Scipi since I started to sell in TpT and is a big honor to have her great freebie in my blog.

Number Tiles is a FREE seven page resource containing four different math problem solving activities for the grades 5-8. The activities extend from addition and multiplication, to using the divisibility rules. Since the students do not write in the book, the pages can be copied and laminated so that they can be used from year to year.
Students solve the Number Tile Math Activities by arranging ten number tiles, numbered 0-9. Each problem is given on a single page, and each activity varies in difficulty which is suitable for any diverse classroom. Since the students have the freedom to move the tiles around, they are more engaged and more willing to try multiple methods to find the solution. These activities are perfect for the visual and/or kinesthetic learner and can be used individually or at a math center.

Have fun with this resource and let me know how it worked on your classroom.

How to manage behavioral troubles with a freebie resource

Meet Stephanie DeLussey from Mrs Ds Corner. She is a TpT seller who, as a 3rd year teacher and a current IST facilitator, has worked in 3 different states (PA, VA, and currently DE) in three levels of schools (elementary, middle school, and high school).

"I absolutely LOVE my current position, as I can work with students 1-1 and really get to know them as individuals. With a lot of emphasis put on teaching to the test, I think it's important to teach from the heart, not the books. I enjoy creating and sharing my ideas with other teachers, as I am still just as passionate about teaching now as I was when I had my own classroom." She say.

Stephanie has a freebie to share with you:

  • 3 pages of incomplete parent notices to help keep parents informed if their child does not complete homework.
  • 1 page of incomplete homework log to track the number of incomplete assignments, each child has per grading period. (This helps in case you would like to give a homework grade)

  • 2 pages of No HOMEWORK Passes to help motivate and reward students.

#2 FREEBIE: Main Idea Details Table:

Clic here to go to the download page
Are you looking for a NEAT graphic organizer to help your students SEE the difference between Main Idea and Details. If so, then have your students create these Main Idea Details Table. The table concept shows them how the main idea needs supporting details similar to how a table needs its legs to stand up on.

I hope you enjoy these two resources. What do you think about them?

"This highly interactive game gives students a hands-on, experiential understanding of the differences in between communism and capitalism. Students will learn more about the key components of communism, capitalism, and socialism. Out of all of the activities that I do in my class, students probably have the most fun playing this game.
There is a reflection that follows the game, as well as a sheet that the students can fill out. After they have filled it out, allow for a discussion on the implications of the game. " Nick.

Have fun with this activity and let me know if your students liked it. Any suggestions for this new seller will be appreciated.

DIY sewing card for your students this Valentine's Day {FREE}

There are so many great ideas out there about lovely cards for  Valentine´s Day that I wanted to make one for my students too. But they will need to have a "learning purpose", so I thought in Sewing cards!!!

I made this 2 designs, I hope you like them. They are free for all my readers, so if you love them, just grab them by clicking the images:

You will need Embroidery thread and a needle, scissors and colors.

Just print the images in card stock (it can be colored, or white for kids to color them). Cut along the outside line, and punch with a needle in the black spots. Now they are ready for the magic. The students will pick bright colors to fill the images and just start sewing.

It will be awesome if you make this project and let me see pictures of it.

A little helpful "Pin-Tip"

Pinterest is one of the most helpful tools to show your products. It brings a lot of trafic to our TpT stores. Here is a little thing I do to be more efficient. I have a board called "Teacher's Clipart" where I pin all my products when I list them at my store. Then from that board I repin to the other collaborative boards.

Why is this helpful?
Well, if you need to change the comment or the URL, you just need to change it once. Do you know that if you change the product's name at the store, the URL changes? I´ve been there so many times....
Also, your board will be getting more followers who will be happy to see your work.

Like I said, is just something that worked for me, I hope it works for you too. Please, let me know wich "Pin-tip" do you have.

1 dollar Etsy sale!!

I Listed some products in my Etsy store some time ago and they're about to expire, so I put a few of them in a 1 dollar sale. I expect only to get back what I invested, so, if you want to help and get a nice clipart set for only $1 you can go to my Etsy store and have some fun.

It´s time for some changes

Happy 2013 everybody!

The begining of the year is always a good point to make some changes. I don´t like resolutions, because they never get done. I like more to start the year fixing things, trowing old and useless stuff and having all clean and organized.

I´ve started already making my Clipart's Terms of Use a little easy to understand. I have had lot of questions about them lately, so, I think maybe this time they are more clear. Would you mind to read them and let me know if they are easier now? You can download them here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Teachers-Clipart-Terms-of-Use

I'm also thinking on a new logo for my store/brand. Please let me know what do you think about it:

I´ve been fixing some typos, size issues and cutting extra transparent space from some of my first sets. If you purchased a set please be sure to re-download it this weekend.
